When you’re looking for a temperature sensor for a glass oven, the part number is actually the least important thing on the page. What really matters is the mess of heat and chemicals inside your oven. In this business, you’re fighting extreme radiant heat and corrosive air. It’s a brutal environment. And the stakes are high—a tiny 5-degree drift can turn a whole batch of sheets into scrap.
Why the Datasheet Lies
You can spend hours picking out a thermocouple or an infrared pyrometer based on a spec sheet, but those pages don’t know your oven. They don’t know your specific heat flux. I’ve seen engineers install the most expensive sensors on the market, only to have them fry in two weeks or start spitting out random numbers. Usually, it’s because the sensor was placed in a cold spot, or the shielding just wasn’t built for the specific vapors floating around in that chamber.
The Weirdness of Glass
Glass doesn’t play by the same rules as metal. It’s translucent. If you use a standard pyrometer without the right spectral filter, the sensor basically “looks through” the glass. It ends up reading the temperature of the oven wall behind the product instead of the glass itself. You get a reading, but it’s a lie. We handle this by digging into the emissivity of your specific glass grade. Then we tweak the sensor’s wavelength response so it actually sees what you need it to see.
Why We Actually Visit Your Shop

A “high-accuracy” sensor is a paperweight if your lead wires are picking up electrical noise from the drive motors. It happens all the time.
